History

MegaK started in 2013 to bring the amazing world of Korean art and culture to the global stage. Based in Hong Kong, we’ve made it our mission to promote creativity, diversity and cultural exchange between Korea and the rest of the world.

We initially started by publishing a premium celebrity magazine through KBS World, one of the most renowned broadcasting networks in Korea. We wanted to show how art, fashion, and music were brought together through Korean culture. As we built our presence in the industry, we moved gradually towards the idea of an in-person event to show the world everything K-pop and Korean celebrity culture had to offer, and that’s what started the MegaK Festival.

The festival gave K-pop and K-drama stars an international platform that was a perfect space for fans to meet their idols. It was an opportunity for fans to get closer to the stars, form communities, and enjoy fandom culture in a tailored environment.

We promote annual festivals that champion Asia’s full range of entertainment and cultural contributions, and we host a number of events in cooperation with media groups and charity organizations in China and Hong Kong. Many of these events offer VR live fan meetings and concerts that reach the broader K-wave fan community.
The MegaK Festival quickly emerged as one of the leading K-pop Festivals in Hong Kong, giving K-artists and media stars an exciting new platform for collaboration and displaying their talents. Global interest in the MegaK Festival led to the formation of communities and networks brimming with talent from a diverse range of different creative industries.

MegaK remains the name behind a variety of annual festivals that champion all kinds of Asian entertainment and cultural creations, with popular events hosted in partnership with media groups and charities all over the world.

Together, MegaK Festivals and MegaK Academy are flying the flag for Korean creativity all over the world
